LOVER

Those were her last moments
The last moments of her life.
Sighing deeply as she reflected,
Upon the story of pain and strife...

Her mind reeled back in time,
Back to the days of yore...
When she hadn't known her future-
How painful would be the lore.

Twenty years of age and beautiful:
She emanated an aura of peace.
She made heads turn wherever she went
She made hearts flutter... to say the least.

All was fine till one such day,
When her eyes met his-
The sideward glance... the blushing smile
And he knew- his life was bliss...

Every day they met and came closer
Till the day he confessed.
She cried and laughed, while he kissed
Her fears now all redressed.

"Yes, yes !" He cried in triumph,
And inwardly did he sneer.
He licked his lips with a devilish wish
At the sight of her desirable figure.

Never did she realize
'Twas a Devil she loved with all her heart...
Below his smile, beneath his care
Lurked the intention of tearin' her apart.

And then came the night
She was ruined- her vain screams muffled
Violated and torn- ripped apart-
She was thrown mercilessly from the bed.

She passed the night in tears and pain, filled with utter repentance,
And then came the morning
The knife slashed across her veins
As she collapsed at the house's entrance.

And now, she lay in bed.
In the white serenity of the cabin,
While the Devil resumed his lust, found someone else
Having rioted her like a raven.

Then, the machines beeped, the heart-rate slowed
But she showed no signs of fear.
Yet strained to smile, looked up at the face
That'd brought her there; she whispered "Oh dear"...

Yes, he was her lover- one of the many
Whose hearts she'd once set aflutter,
He kneeled beside her, a tear rolled down,
She carressed his hair, but no words could utter.

He looked up- shocked,
For she'd breathed her last ,
Her face in peaceful repose.
The tears rolled deown, thick and fast,
He made his choice...

And 'twas death he chose.~

That is one the most beautiful poem I have ever read... sometimes love IS sacrifice, but..death is something unacceptable. Suicide is something that NOBODY should ever go for when they have family and other people who care about them... I am nobody to judge how bad or "wrong" it is, but..if not anything else, it is selfish... but, love remains bizarre..
